A Different Drummer: Thoreau and Will's Independence Day
Published in Paperback by Discovery Enterprises Ltd (01 September, 1998)
Average review score:

A Great Introduction to Thoreau for KidsThis book introduces Thoreau's philosophy to the young reader (ages 7-10) through the eyes of the 10-year-old boy who helped him move to the woods at Walden Pond. The illustrations are charming.

Dimensional Analysis and Theory of Models
Published in Hardcover by Krieger Publishing Company (June, 1980)
Average review score:

Lost Art of Dimensional AnalysisIn recent years Dimensional Analysis (DA) has been alive and well in fluid mechanics. Other disciplines have not taught DA as a primary analysis tool. This book is excellent in showing DA applied to diverse topics with chapters on: strength of materials, fluid mechanics, theory of heat, electromagnetism, and differential equations. The book's chapters are self contained papers which refer to each other only minimally. Therefore if you need to work on a specific problem, you can look up the salient facts quickly. But with a book this short (155 pages in a 4" by 6" format) and a lucid writing style, it is one of the few textbooks that I would classify as a "page turner". It's hard to put down without reading it cover to cover.

Dirt Floor
Published in Paperback by PublishAmerica (March, 2003)
Average review score:

This author is amazing...After reading Custer's debut novel, "Concept of Justice" I knew I'd want to read other books by this awesome author.I just finished Custer's debut nonfiction book, "Dirt Floor" and it's confirmed in my mind; the guy is an amazing author; mastering fiction, nonfiction and even a few poems. His style is flawless and never flowery or dull. The descriptions are just enough, not laborious; the dialogue, believable. Bring on your third book, Henry Custer...your fans are hungry.

A Discovery of Strangers
Published in Hardcover by Albert Britnell Book Shop (May, 1994)
Average review score:

First-rate historical fictionThis is an excellent fictional account of Franklin's *overland* expedition to the Arctic Ocean. Through the device of multiple narration, it presents us with both the Aboriginal and European perspective on the events. Wiebe did his homework: the novel is solidly based on the first-hand accounts of Franklin, Back, Hearne, and others. The influence of Faulkner is evident in narrative style, prose style and theme. Faulkner's great story The Bear was clearly an influence

The wonderful world of Jeremy JamesI think that this book is an excellent story describing many of Jeremy James' adventures from his point of view. this way of writing allows many funny comments on Jeremy's outlook on life. Reading this book will be a wonderful experience for you and your children. I nag my mom over and over again to read me more of these hilarous stories. My mom obliges with joy because she likes the stories almost as much as I do. Even my friends enjoy the comical antics of Jeremy James. This book is a must have for any fun loving family.
